Sporades and Evia Holiday Guide

Located along the coastline of mainland Greece, there are 11 islands that make up the Sporades group, with many of them still undiscovered by the foreign tourists.

Evia

The large island of Evia is an ideal getaway. The northern villages of Loutra Edipsou and Limni are a magnet for the Greeks primarily because of their beautiful beaches and mineral springs with their curative waters. It is little wonder that Evia is a famous spa destination in Greece. In fact, the town of Edipsos (Aidipsos) on Evia is often referred to as the "Spa Town" of the island, because of the huge number of natural spas and springs located all around the region. You can choose to stay in a vacation villa in these villages and pamper yourself to the rejuvenating waters of the springs.

Sporades

The Sporades with its mountainous terrain is home to a dense vegetation. The town of Skiathos claims the best beaches on the island along with a vibrant tourist scene and a throbbing nightlife. Skopelos with its beautiful waterfront, sandy bays and lush green forest trails, is a visual delight.

However the main attraction of the island is The National Marine Park that encompasses seven islands. The park is home to the endangered monk seal.

Skiathos

Considered to be the most popular of the Sporades Island group, Skiathos each year attracts thousands of tourists to its busy coastline. The town has its share of shady woods, olive and walnut groves and quiet beaches that can only be accessed by boat. A must visit is the seafront Skiathos Town, dotted with tavernas, cafés and some excellent seafood restaurants overlooking a lively marina. You can take boat trips around the island to swim in the sparkling blue-green waters and indulge in some water sports. There are enough attractions on land to fill an entire day with sightseeing. You can visit a ruined Venetian fortress dating from 1207, and the deserted 14th-century town of Kastro. However, the greatest attraction is the Koukounaries beach. Widely considered to be one of the best beaches of Greece, this one-mile long strip of fine golden sand and crystal clear water attracts many visitors especially during July and August and offers all sorts of water sports facilities. There are many vacation villas on the island which allow you more comfort, luxury, privacy and personalized services than any stay in a hotel.

Skopelos

The largest island of the Sporades group, Skopelos is dominated by lush hills, thick pine forests and olive groves. The island's scenic beauty is best explored on foot. A must visit is the Skopelos Town, home to more than 100 of the island's 380 churches. The charming, whitewashed houses clinging to a steep hill behind the harbour are a pretty sight. The island, which is home to many stunning beaches, is quieter and less well known than its neighbour Skiathos, and so it offers a more laid-back, relaxing, and romantic atmosphere.

Explore the best of the scenic attractions of Skopelos by staying in a vacation villa, your home away from home. You can choose to stay in a studio if you are travelling alone. If you are travelling in groups or with family, you can take your pick from 2 room apartments to 6 bedroom cottages and vacation villas to make your stay in Skopelos all the more special.
