Athens, named after goddess Athena, is one of the oldest cities in the world with a recorded history of at least 3,000 years. The city is home to some of the greatest attractions in Greece notably the Acropolis hill with its magnificent collection of historic monuments. Browse through the Acropolis Museum, which houses some of the masterpieces of the ancient Greek civilization. Also visit the Agora - a grand, ruined Roman building that was funded by Roman emperors, the Temple of Zeus - built around 1,500 years ago for the worship of the Greek God Zeus, and the Hadrian's Arch - originally the city gate linking the Roman quarters with the original town of Athens.

The Hellenic Festival celebrates the performance arts and at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus theatre. The man attractions are musical and dance performances by international and national artists. Popular music concerts are held during the festival atop Lykavittos Hill, theater performances at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus and the Little Theatre of Epidaurus.
- Tour to Olympia:
If you are in Athens or in the city of Pyrgos, you can take a bus and go for a guided tour of the ruins of Olympia, the place where the ancient Olympic Games were held. Here, you can wander through the remnants of an old stadium and sprinting track, as well as the ruins of the once great Temple of Zeus. The Temple of Zeus once housed the great Statue of Zeus, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
- Monasteries of Meteora:
The landscape here is simply amazing. See the rocks of Meteora, a conglomeration of natural rocks at the edge of the Pindus Mountains, rising to form pinnacles in the sky. The monasteries unbelievably perched on the rocks date back to the 13th century. These are believed to have been built by the monks who took refuge here. Of the original 24 monasteries, only 6 remain, with the Church of the Metamorphisis being the most famous.

This fascinating pagan religious complex was believed by the ancients to be the centre of the world. Set on a stunning hillside site, Delphi comprises classical temples, a theatre and a stadium. The Delphi Archaeological Museum is also worth a visit.
